Mökki is a branding concept for an artist residency and gallery space in Michigan. Inspired by a real space for sale (found on Zillow), this project’s goal was to create a brand system and story that describes a playful and creative institution. The word “mokki” translates to “cottage” in Finnish and was chosen for both the property’s cozy feel and the community’s scandinavian history. The colors for this brand are vibrant, flexible and reflect a contemporary learning environment. The brand patterns and symbols are inspired by cottage-core quilt elements with a modern twist. Since the colors and symbols are flexible the typography remains crisp, clear and consistent.
