Senior Capstone
For my Visual Communication capstone project I chose to design a brand off of a very small business that my roommates and I had been enjoying. Glenwood Ave sold handmade clay jewelry, accessories and homegoods. The playful, unique and organic nature of our handmade objects informed the brief that I gave myself. Through the chosen typeface, logo, brand colors and image styling I was able to tell the story of Glenwood Ave as a timeless and contemporary entity.
To stay true to the product we were selling out of our sunroom, I chose packaging materials that had texture, felt expensive and were consistent with the brand styling. The website was designed to be simple and elegant, allowing for the products to standout. My professors and peers acted as my user testing pool which helped me see where improvements could be made.
The challenge of having complete creative freedom over all components involved was extremely rewarding upon completion. Being able to step back and look at everything put together gave me a sense of satisfaction that pushed me further in pursuing a design based career.
